Heres a recap of the background behind the Stephanie Adams case. If youre a long time reader, you may have read this already, as some of the introductory text is from a Celebitchy post we wrote in mid June:
BlogNYC, now Metadish, ran a story about former playmate Stephanie Adams going batshit on a cabbie and then suing the NYPD for $5 million for being rough (topless photos NSFW) while arresting her for it. Adams promptly encouraged her friends on MySpace to bash BlogNYC and another reporting blog. Her friends comments on the post are ad hominem attacks against the author, calling him shitty and criticizing the fact that he dared post a recap of the story. It turns out most of the commentors were Adams herself as a large portion of them were from the same IP address using different nicknames.
Adams also sent a nasty all-caps e-mail to BlogNYC, threatening legal action if they didnt remove the photos they posted from her 14 year-old cheesy Playboy spread and dizzying mySpace. She tried to play herself off as her own shrieking publicist, but she couldnt hide behind her bad prose and caps lock.
Making this story even more hilarious is the fact that Adams thinks shes a psychic and has a website called Goddessy that offers love readings, and tarot readings for $100 payable by PayPal.
Adams somehow got a top tier legal firm to represent her in suing Metadish for $100,000 for defamation, partially for using the common net expression that she got owned. Adams lawyer is getting owned by Metadishs lawyer, because the lawsuit is completely bogus and being associated with it is making his firm look like a bunch of asses.
Stephanie Adams lawyer is just trying to let the lawsuit sit there so that it doesnt bring any more attention to how ridiculous it is. Metadishs lawyer realizes how great it would be if this lawsuit would actually go to trial, because then the loopy Stephanie Adams would have to testify on her own behalf and the trial would get a lot of publicity.
All this is costing Metadish time and money, and if theyre going to go to court they have to have a way to cover the over $1,000 in court costs. Any kind of donation you can give them on behalf of the gossip hounds of the blogosphere, who would love to see the transcript and video of this fine occasion, is appreciated.
