Scarlett Johansson has signed a recording deal, according to
reports.
The ‘Black Dahlia’ actress is apparently recording her first album - entitled ‘Scarlett Sings Tom Waits’ - and is hoping to release the LP next spring.
According to insiders her voice is “whispery and she can “carry a tune nicely.
Tom Waits is one of America’s most celebrated singer-songwriters whose classic songs include ‘Downtown Train’ and ‘(Looking for) The Heart of Saturday Night’.
Scarlett is not the first Hollywood star to swap the big screen for a recording studio.
Paris Hilton had international success with her debut single, ‘Stars Are Blind’, while Lindsay Lohan and Hilary Duff have both had a string of chart hits.
Nicole Kidman has released two successful duets - one with her ‘Moulin Rouge’ co-star Ewan McGregor and the other with British popstar Robbie Williams.
Other actors who have hit the charts include Bruce Willis, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Winslet and David Hasselhoff - who is currently at number ten in the UK singles chart with a cover of the rock song, ‘Jump In My Car’.
Perhaps the most bizarre - yet critically lauded - attempts to take the music charts by storm came from ‘Star Trek’ actor William Shatner - who teamed up with Ben Folds for a cover of the classic Pulp track, ‘Common People’ - and Leonard Nimoy, whose infamous ‘Bilbo Baggins’ became a cult hit.
